The seam allowance must face the front of the throw. This means that you place the patches wrong sides together (back to back) when sewing the throw together. Sew 1cm (3⁄8in) in from the edge, see figure D, stitching just outside the wadding (batting).

Continue to sew the patches so you have 13 strips with 9 patches in each strip.

When sewing the strips together, it helps to have the seam allowances facing the right way. If you place the strips on a table as they are going to be sewn together, the seam allowances on every other strip must be pressed to the right, while the rest are pressed to the left.

Place two strips wrong sides together, fasten a pin where the seams meet between each patch and sew the strips together, see figure E.

Sew all the strips together.
